Market Committee has established three check posts at Barsar, Kaloor & Dhaneta (temporary) to record the arrival and dispatches of Agricultural Produce and to collect the compound fee etc.
Method of Sale
Method of sale is by open Auction/mutual negotiation. (Maximum fruits & Vegetables are brought by the traders in the Market from out side the state/ district. Whenever the local produce is brought into the Market by local producers in bulk, it is put to open auction for sale .
Dissemination of Market information
Daily wholesale prices of 23 Agricultural Commodities are sent to the Director of Agriculture Shimla-5, which are broadcasted on All India Radio Shimla daily. In addition to this, daily wholesale prices of Fruits &Vegetables are conveyed to Akashvani Hamirpur which are broadcasted FM radio at 6.35 P.M. daily in Kisanbani program w.e.f. 15.08.2005. Apart from Akashvani now Doordarshan Shimla is also telecasting the Daily Market Wholesale Prices. This market has also been linked with AGMARKNET www.agmarknet.nic.in portal. Wholesale prices are also disseminated to Distt Food and supply controller who by adding margins display the rates on electronic board at prominent place of Hamirpur town.

Achievements
This Market Committee started its functioning with 21 dealers, on 14-9-1987 but now 139 traders of fruits, Vegetables, food grains, forest produce and Milk products etc. have been covered under the provision of this Act. Initially the income of the Market Committee was Rs. 12195 during the year 1987-88 which has now increased to the tune of Rs. 1,01,30,101. Market Committee is meeting out its office and development expenses out of its own income.
Future Plans
Existing Market Infrastructure will be strengthened. Possibility of establishment of big market nearby is being explored as the existing Principal Market Yard at Hamirpur has become congested for which sufficient govt. land will be got transferred.
