APMC Hamirpur Agriculture Produce Market Committee, Hamirpur was established during the year 1987 under the Himachal Pradesh Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1969 (Act No.9 of 1970), which has been repealed vide section 86 of The Himachal Pradesh Agricultural and Horticultural Produce Marketing (Development & Regulation) Act, 2005 (Act No. 20 of 2005) as assented to by the Governor on 25th May, 2005 for better regulation of sale-purchase of Agricultural Produce and to provide marketing & information facilities to the growers of the district.

Notified Market Area

The area of operation of Market Committee was notified as the entire district of Hamirpur vide-notification No. HMB/5-15/81 dated 13-4-1981.

Presently APMC Hamirpur is having 4 functional market yards at Hamirpur, Nadaun, Jahu and Sujanpur. Principal Market yard is located at Dosarka near Hamirpur Town in govt. land measuring 3446.47sq. mtr. at Dosarka was transferred in the name of Agriculture Department for the establishment of Principal Market Yard. In Market Committee building, 15 No's Shops (7 Shops & 8 Booths) in the ground floor & Market Committee office, Farmers Rest house in the First floor was completed in the year 1996 with an expenditure of about Rs.29 Lacs. Wholesale trade of fruit & vegetables was shifted from Hamirpur Bazaar to this yard on 01-07-1996.

About Sub Market Yards:

Sub market yard Nadaun: The sub market yard Nadaun was established in the year 2004-05. It has an area of 2018.63 sq. meter and has 11 shops and I store. It has covered auction platform and parking facility is also available.

Sub market yard Jahu: lt was established in the year 2012-13 and has an area of 7 kanal 14 marla. It has 9 shops for fruits and vegetables, 5 shops for food grains and 7 no. Of godowns. It is also has farmers rest house and parking facility.

Sub market yard Sujanpur: It was established in the year 2019-20 but is presently unoperational and will be operational as soon as all the basic facilities are provided in the yard.

Achievements and success stories of APMC Hamirpur

This Market Committee started its functioning with 21 dealers, on 14- 9-1987 but now 171 traders (2019-20) of fruits, vegetables, food grains, forest produce and milk products etc. have been covered under the provision of this Act. Initially the income of the Market Committee was Rs. 12195 during the year 1987-88 which has now increased to the tune of Rs. 1,68,87,695 (2019-20). Market Committee is meeting out its office and development expenses out of its own income. APMC Hamirpur is providing service to the growers of the Notified Market Area although the marketable surplus in the area is not much.

Future plans of APMC Hamirpur

Existing Market Infriistrtlcture i ill be strengthened. Possibility ot establishment ot big market nearby is being explored as the existing Principal Market Yard at Hamirpur has become congested too which sufficient govt. land shall be transferred.
