The important power and functions of the Committees are enumerated in Section 39 of the Act.

(1) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Powers and Functions of the Committee is as under -

  1. Enforce the provision of the Act and the rules and bye -laws made there under in the notified market area.
  2. Establishing of Market Yard in the Market Area and provide of facilities for person visiting in connection with the purchase , sale, storage, weighment and processing of agricultural produce concerned.

Supervision, direction & control of market or for regulating marketing of agricultural produce in any place in the market area and for the purposes connected.
